Engagement
How work starts, and how it stops.
Last updated 26 August 2026. Paid work starts only when both sides have a written scope. An email thread that we both treat as the scope can be that writing.
Scope
The scope says the problem, the deliverable, the fee or rate, and the rough timing. Work outside that scope is a new conversation, not a silent extra invoice.
Fees
Fees are agreed in writing before we start. They may be fixed, daily, or a mix. Currency is agreed per engagement. We do not take a surprise retainer.
Payment
Invoices are due on the terms in the scope. We can pause work if an invoice is late. We do not store card numbers on this website.
Cancellation and unused fees
You can end an engagement by writing to us. We bill for work already done and for costs already committed with your say-so.
Prepaid unused time is returned, minus work already done and minus non-refundable third-party costs we incurred for you (for example a vendor we booked at your request). We do not keep a leftover prepaid balance as a penalty.
If we end the engagement because of acceptable use, the same rule applies: you pay for work done; unused prepaid time comes back.
Your materials
You keep what you brought. We keep the right to reuse general methods and know-how that are not your secrets. Specific code and documents made for you are yours once they are paid for, unless the scope says otherwise.
Confidentiality
We do not talk about your work in public without your say. You do not have to be named as a client.
